ADRN is Ready to Respond:
Extensive Damage As 120mph Tornado Winds Rip through Community

On April 10th, a EF-2 tornado with 120mph peak winds slammed into Slidell, Louisiana, leaving in its wake extensive damage to the community and 26,000 customers without power.

In just 9 minutes, businesses, schools and lives were upended, and numerous injuries flooded emergency response facilities. Reports of more than 700 homes and 50 businesses have been affected. Thankfully, no deaths were believed to have occurred.

The tornado tore through an apartment complex, leaving 50 people without a place to live.  A couple of shelters were opened for those needing support, but now their road of recovery begins.

“You can’t prepare for a tornado,” said Slidell Police Communications Director Michael Vinsanau, “It comes through and rips people’s lives apart in a matter of seconds.”
