Survivor Emotional Care
ADRN has trained volunteers ready to give emotional support to survivors following a crisis.
Emotional Support – Critical Incident Stress Management Plus (CISM+)
Following the impact of disaster, families struggle to pick up the pieces of their lives. Survivors are in need of immediate emotional and spiritual care to help walk them through next steps – bringing clarity in the midst of a very difficult time as they realize they are unable to cope.
CISM+ is an internationally recognized training presented by ADRN’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). Our CISM+-trained volunteers are equipped with crisis intervention techniques and coping mechanisms to assist survivors in trauma reduction and help move them into recovery. CISM+ volunteers address the mental, emotional, and spiritual issues most people encounter in times of disaster.

Fire Survivor Larry Hardison
Larry shares his thoughts after meeting with a CISM+-trained volunteer.
“The fire was so fast. … This whole program, I think it’s a blessing. I think it’s a great thing. It’s a little extra of something else [for] somebody [who] needs a help, …not just with money, but a spiritual help up.”
-Larry Hardison (Fire Survivor)
