Eastland Complex Fire Response Press Release 3/18/22

AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF NETWORK MONITORING THE EASTLAND COMPLEX FIRE AS HUNDREDS ARE FORCED TO EVACUATE

Austin, Texas, November 29, 2021– The Austin Disaster Relief Network is currently monitoring four different wildfires in Eastland County that have merged to form what the Texas A&M Forest Service refers to as the Eastland Complex. As of Friday morning, the blaze scorched almost 40,000 acres and continues to burn at only two percent containment. Gusty winds and low humidity have fueled the rapidly spreading wildfire and forced hundreds in Eastland County to evacuate their homes and businesses.

“We’re keeping an eye on reports coming in from the area. Should those communities need our help, we stand ready to offer them whatever assistance we can,” said Austin Disaster Relief Network Operations Officer Robert Vidaurri.

We’ll continue to monitor and provide updates as the situation develops.
