September Update #1
CRISIS - COMFORT - CELEBRATION
Your compassion is bringing hope and healing to our community.
Dear Friend,
On the very first day of school, 42 families who were still recovering from the Central Texas Flood faced an unthinkable second blow.
A Sandy Creek area school bus overturned on its route from Bagdad Elementary School. Parents raced to the reunification site at Round Mountain Baptist Church—undoubtedly with hearts pounding and questions swirling.
ADRN worked side-by-side with local church leaders and school staff to provide emotional and spiritual support as families were anxiously waiting to be reunited with their children.
We prayed, we listened, we stayed present in the fears and tears. It was a day many in this community will not soon forget.
`Fast forward two weeks…Same location. Same families. Different day—and a completely different experience!
In collaboration with a San Francisco CA Fire Department Association, ADRN staff and volunteers supported and resourced Round Mountain Baptist Church, a network partner and local church, in hosting an impactful community event.
What once represented a place of panic became a place of joy as families enjoyed a hot meal, welcome kits full of essential resources, and kids enjoyed receiving toys, school supplies, Kona Ice, and other free giveaways.
Laughter returned. Kids clutched new toys.
Parent exhaled. Hope was visible again.
Together, we can continue to help stabilize families who are still recovering from the trauma of the floods, provide ongoing physical, emotional and spiritual support, and resource network partners who are committed to hosting events like this during survivors’ long-term journey to recovery and resilience. Thank you!
With continued hope,
Rev Dr. Dwight Bailey, Jr.
