AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF NETWORK HOSTING INTAKE CENTER ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY FOR WINTER STORM ASSISTANCE

Austin, Texas, March 1, 2021 Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) will operate an Intake Center later this week to assist residents impacted by Winter Storm Uri. Trained and badged ADRN Volunteers will meet with families and individuals who need emergency assistance with food, gas, housing, and repairing damage to their homes in the wake of the frigid conditions that blanketed our region in recent weeks. These skilled volunteers will help to connect residents with available resources including FEMA support and funds donated to the ADRN Winter Storm 2021 Fund.

“Many Central Texas residents still have damage to their homes from fallen trees and debris as well as pipes that burst during the deep freeze,” said ADRN Executive Director Daniel Geraci. “Our network of churches stands ready to walk with these families impacted by the storm with the physical, emotional, and spiritual support they need until they’ve fully recovered. It’s hard to overstate the impact this winter storm continues to have on families needing help with plumbing so they can have safe water, or they may even be unable to live in their homes at all because of flood damage. We’re here to help.”

Central Texas residents in need of assistance MUST pre-register to take part in the ADRN Intake Center at ADRN.org or by calling our disaster survivor hotline at 512.806.0800. Location and time details are as follows:

ADRN INTAKE CENTER FOR WINTER STORM 2021

LOCATION: Promiseland Church, 1504 E. 51st Street, Austin, TX 78723

Friday, March 5 – 9 AM – 5 PM (last appointment begins at 4 PM)

Saturday, March 6 – 9 AM – 4 PM (last appointment begins at 3 PM)

Residents must bring the following documents with them to their intake appointment:

    • Photo ID (Driver’s license, State ID card, passport, other government issues ID, student ID)
    • Document with name and address (current utility bill, mortgage coupon, bank account statement, government benefits card)
    • If possible, any documentation of winter-storm water damage or other related losses and needs.
    • FEMA number if they’ve applied for federal assistance.

CRISIS CLEANUP HOTLINE: 1-800-329-8052

Residents in Bastrop, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties can call the “Crisis Cleanup” toll free number at 1-800-329-8052 requesting assistance to clean up their home and/or debris as well as repairing plumbing damage.   The “Crisis Cleanup” line will operate Monday-Saturday, 9 am – 8 pm, and Sunday, 1 pm – 6 pm. Homeowners can register for assistance through the “Crisis Cleanup” number until Friday, March 5.  Volunteer crews have already begun deploying from ADRN network churches and other organizations to begin the cleanup effort.

SHOWERS AND FREE LAUNDRY CENTERS AVAILABLE

ADRN is collaborating with several area churches from its network to provide shower and laundry locations for local residents who don’t have access to clean water as a result of the recent winter storms. Residents who need access to these services can sign up at ADRN.org for specific locations, and to reserve time slots for a warm shower and fresh clean clothes.

DONATIONS NEEDED

Monetary donations, in the form of financial funds, are still needed at this time to help ADRN provide support to those who’ve experienced weather-related disasters. Funds will be distributed in the form of gift cards, emergency housing, and/or supplies needed to meet immediate and long-term needs.
