Community Emergency Response Team (CERT):
This training will equip and train you in the essentials of disaster preparedness for your local community, such as Fire Safety, Light Search & Rescue, Disaster Medical Operations & Psychology, Terrorism and Disaster Simulation. This is an excellent course and well worth the time invested in it! You will be able to use the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, to assist others in your neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. This 5 day (24 hours) course is FEMA backed and nationally recognized.
To continue on with first responder training there are several paths to follow: Disaster Medical Operations, Incident Command, Communications, Response Operations
American Red Cross Standard First Aid with CPR/AED (Adult/Child plus CPR for Infants):
Participants will be able to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. The program teaches skills that participants need to know to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Students who successfully complete this course upon completion of skills demonstration and written exam will receive certificates for Standard First Aid with CPR/AED – Adult and Child which are valid for two years. This full-day (8 hours) course is Red Cross certified and nationally recognized.
