Terrified in the Dark

Field Story from a CISM Volunteer
Central Texas Flood Relief, Nov 2 2013

A young mother waited just to talk to “someone” at the ADRN tent. She had not even asked for supplies or food and didn’t seem to care about those things at the time. She knew she needed to talk to someone.  She told us of how after her children (exhausted from the fight of escaping the flood waters) couldn’t go any further, she had to make the decision of which one of her children she would try to save because she knew she couldn’t save them all.

Thankful, all were saved. But, surely you can understand the level of human suffering that is in the mist of any disaster. Please, please, lend a helping hand to alleviate the pain these people are going through.
