September Sacred Assembly

Dear ADRN Family,

I believe we can all agree that we live in unprecedented times; and unprecedented times demand an unprecedented response. What if the whole Church in Greater Austin united together with ONE heart and ONE voice to fast and pray during the month of September? If we partner together with the Lord, could this invoke His divine intervention, ushering in the change we know our city and nation so desperately needs?

Last Wednesday, our Executive Leadership team, along with the new Director of HOPE Prayer Center (HPC) Corey Stark, gathered to simply seek the Lord’s face for ADRN and HPC. Four and a half hours later, we left the meeting touched by God and surprised with what He had placed on our hearts — to call a Sacred Assembly for the month of September and for ADRN to pause the majority of our staff’s work time to join in prayer and fasting while serving the church in the process.

We believe God is redirecting our steps for such a time as this. He’s gathering the Church of Greater Austin, asking us to humble ourselves before Him, commit ourselves to prayer with fasting, cry out to Him for mercy for the sins of our nation, and ask God to move in power, turning the hearts of our city and nation back to Him! Will you join us?

Fortunately, God gives us a biblical model for a Sacred Assembly in the Book of Joel. We see that God allowed great pressure to come upon the nation of Israel as a motivator to help them turn their hearts back to Him. In Joel 1, God allowed natural disasters –  locusts, drought, famine, fires – with the intent to wake them up. However, when they did not see God’s hand in the crisis and repent, God allowed the pressure to escalate through a military invasion (Joel 2). Through the prophet Joel, God gives us a divine “blueprint” and pattern for the response He is looking for from His people.

 Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land
into the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD.” Joel 1:14 (NKJV)
The focus of this Sacred Assembly will be to:
    • Corporately gather together in unified prayer with fasting;
    • Rend our hearts and ask God to extend grace to turn wholeheartedly back to Him;
    • Ask God for His mercy to deliver our city and nation from the current crisis; and
    • Ask God for the promised outpouring of the Spirit upon His Church in our nation.
 Now, therefore,” says the LORD, “turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning. So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm. Who knows if He will turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind Him— a grain offering and a drink offering for the LORD your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and nursing babes…” Joel 2:12-16a (NKJV)
If you sense agreement in your heart from the Lord, here’s what we are asking of you and perhaps your family:

1. Commit to a Prayer Watch.
Commit to one or more 1-hour prayer watches in order to help us cover 24 hours a day with a minimum of three or more people per prayer watch. This role is for an individual who wants to participate and engage in corporate worship and prayer within the room or at home. This is not a prayer leader role. Click here to sign up for individual prayer times for either online or LIVE.

2. Lead Worship.
If you have led live worship at a church or a Christian event and would like to participate or lead worship, please email

3. Volunteer.
HPC needs volunteers 24×7 for the following roles during the Sacred Assembly:

Other ways you can help:

4. Share with your friends.
Share this link with friends and family in the Greater Austin area and beyond. This assembly will be open to the public 24/7 and live streamed. We are looking forward to seeing the corporate Church gather together in unity with one voice.

5. Ask your Church to commit to one day of fasting and prayer.
ADRN and HPC is asking Churches to commit to 24 hours of worship and prayer at HPC and potentially host a Sacred Assembly for their region. For more information, click here or email

What ADRN/HPC will provide:
    • A clean and safe place to gather and pray (HOPE Prayer Center, 1122 E. 51st St), with sanitation and social distancing practices in place; and
    • A live stream broadcast of the event on YouTube and Facebook – links will be provided on this page once streaming begins.

As I mentioned above, ADRN leadership felt the strong hand of God asking us to pause our normal day-to-day operations for the month of September. We will redirect the majority of our 47 staff members’ attention to prayer and fasting over the next 30 days along with serving in key roles in the prayer center. ADRN will continue to keep in place essential services such as our Shepherding Program to ensure all families impacted by disaster get the assistance they need.

We hope you will join us for this special event at HPC! God bless.
