IS-100 is a FEMA course that introduces how volunteers to the Incident Command System (ICS) that FEMA and local governments work within and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
IS-700 introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private-sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents and describes the purpose of the NIMS Components including: Preparedness, Communications and Information Management, Resource Management, and Command and Management and then describes the purpose of the National Integration Center. These trainings are FREE. They are pre-requisites to receive ADRN CERT+ Certification.
Be sure to go to www.fema.gov to create your SID# (Student ID#). We encourage you to bring your own laptop. If you do not have a laptop you will be provided one — in this case come early to get acclimated.
