This DRC Tools page is built specifically to assist in equipping and empowering you to lead with excellence and support your pastors in and out of times of disaster!
As you introduce the ADRN disaster relief model to your church leaders and volunteers, always remember the 3Cs! Regardless of whether there’s a disaster or not, you have a calling to serve and make a powerful impact for Christ under the authority He has given you.
It’s crucial to support your pastors and staff while aligning with the vision and mission of your church.
Your church congregation is the body of Christ. You serve the body by building it up and preparing it to fulfill its calling.
Ultimately, let’s unite as the Church to address the most pressing needs in each community during a major disaster or isolated event.
Completing your training is the first and most important step in getting started as a Disaster Relief Coordinator (DRC). The DRC training is fully online and can be completed at your own pace.
Once you have completed your DRC training, set up a meeting with our pastor to identify and discuss how the disaster relief team can serve the vision and mission of your church and pastoral staff in and out of disaster. Use the tools below to inspire ideas and open discussion.
Your core team will consist of a group committed to serving the Lord and the church leadership by focusing on preparing the church before a disaster and helping to lead response efforts in times of crisis.
People are much more likely to respond to crises and sustain long-term effectiveness when they are a part of a team. There are many skill sets needed to help lead a local church in responding to a crisis effectively; not one person possesses all the skills and strengths needed to manage alone. (1 Corinthians 12:14-31, Hebrews 10:24-25)
Now that you have a core team in place, you are ready to train your team. Your ADRN Sector Leader will help you plan and host our ground-level Basic Training, which will equip and empower your church to begin responding to crisis situations in your community. This is the perfect time to start promoting the disaster relief ministry while expanding your volunteer base within the congregation.
This Basic Training will not only highlight the need for the Church to respond to crises but also the importance of being personally prepared so you can ensure that you and your loved ones have the necessary resources to remain safe in the event of an emergency.
Serving our churches and communities outside of disaster is absolutely essential to our effectiveness when a catastrophic event actually occurs! It is through our love for Christ that He gives us a mandate to love and serve people. In return, we believe he is equipping us to develop trust, favor and relational authority while demonstrating and declaring His goodness in our churches and in our communities. Remember – When it comes down to it, all we have to do is follow His lead… LOVE GOD and LOVE PEOPLE… the rest will fall in place!
