Central Texas Tornadoes 2022 Press Release 3/21/22

AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF NETWORK OPENS THE CENTRAL TEXAS TORNADOES RELIEF FUND TO ASSIST HOMEOWNERS AFTER DEVASTATING STORMS

Austin, Texas, March 21, 2022 – Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) has opened the Central Texas Tornadoes Relief Fund to help residents impacted by the outbreak of tornadoes this afternoon. As storms moved through the Greater Austin area, several twisters touched down destroying homes and other structures across Williamson County, Bastrop County, and other communities. Even as the damage assessment has just begun, ADRN launched the fund to support emergency needs as well as the long-term rebuilding effort that lies ahead.

“We can already see that dozens of homes have been ripped all the way to their foundations,” said ADRN Executive Director Daniel Geraci. “Central Texas residents will need support from the entire community today, tomorrow, and for many weeks to come. Our neighbors need help with everything from cleaning up debris, replacing lost and damaged clothes and furniture, and rebuilding the structure of their homes. All of that takes resources, and we’re asking the Greater Austin community to support the Central Texas Tornadoes Relief Fund and help these families in their moment of crisis.”

Donations to the Central Texas Tornadoes Relief Fund can be made online at donate.adrn.org/ctxtornadoes. Central Texas residents impacted by today’s tornadoes and need assistance can call the ADRN Disaster Survivor Hotline at 512-806-0800.

ADRN, a network of local churches, is working closely with local officials to respond to emergency needs as well as preparing for the long-term recovery effort. Trained volunteers stand ready to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to disaster survivors. As other needs are identified in the days ahead, ADRN leaders will call on network volunteers and the general community to help.
