Background Check

In partnership with our local government, Capital Area Shelter HUB Plan (CASHP) team, American Red Cross and local churches, all ADRN volunteers are required to have their name checked on the National Sex Offender list in order to receive an official ADRN Yellow Badge and be able to purchase an ADRN Yellow T-Shirt.  Volunteers with a sex offender offense on their record or convicted of any crimes against minors will not be able to receive an ADRN badge or an official ADRN yellow t-shirt.  Volunteers that have a felony charge on their record within 7 years will not be able to receive an ADRN White badge.  A volunteer with a felony record may receive an ADRN white badge after 7 years from the date of the felony.

Get Started with 2 Simple Steps »

1) Create your profile in the Volunteer Portal. There is a link in your profile setup for the background check.

2)  Donation. Make a suggested donation of $10 to cover our cost of the badge and background check. This is not required if your financial situation does not permit it. Click here to make a donation.

Will my information be confidential?

ADRN commits to you that your background check information is confidential.  The approval process can take up to 24 hours.  Once you have completed the online form successfully, you should see a “Thank You! Your background check has been completed” screen.  If you chose the option to receive a copy of your background check, an email will be sent to you within 48 hours, when requested of the Background Check vendor (not ADRN).   ADRN is sent clearance records by the Background Check Vendor.  We check these clearance records each time you register for an advanced training. Providing you have clearance we are able to issue you an ADRN White Badge upon completion of each advanced training.
