AUSTIN DISASTER RELIEF NETWORK LAUNCHES SURVIVOR CARE KIT AND FUNDRAISING DRIVE FOR SURVIVORS OF THE HEARTLAND TORNADOES

Austin, Texas, December 12, 2021 – The Austin Disaster Relief Network calls on Greater Austin Area
residents to donate supplies and resources for Heartland communities devastated by tornadoes over the
weekend. Recovery efforts have only just begun in the region, and thousands of residents have lost their
homes. ADRN announced tonight that they will collect essential items in Survivor Care Kits and raise funds to
send to impacted areas over the coming weeks.

“Getting the basic necessities into survivors’ hands makes a huge difference,” said ADRN Executive Director
Daniel Geraci. “It’s the first step towards hope and recovery for people who’ve just been through probably the
worst trauma of their lives. We want to get these essentials to our midwestern neighbors as soon as possible
and let them know they’re not alone in this crisis.”

Survivor Care Kits contain blankets, towels, and hygiene items, and ADRN asks that people include a note of
encouragement for survivors as well. Kits can be customized for men, women, children, or entire families.
Residents can drop off donations at ADRN Headquarters or the Hope Family Thrift Store, located at 1122 E.
51st Street, Austin, TX. For a complete list of Survivor Care Kit items and assembly instructions, visit the ADRN
response page at adrn.org/heartland.

With temperatures in Kentucky and the surrounding states dipping below freezing, ADRN also asks for
propane heaters to send to help keep people warm. Additional needs may come to light as rescue and
recovery efforts continue in the days and weeks to come.
In addition to the Survivor Care Kits, ADRN has launched the Heartland Tornadoes Disaster Relief Fund to
gather resources for individuals and families impacted by the storms. Funds will support emergency needs for
disaster survivors, including temporary housing, emergency supplies, food, and other essentials. The relief
fund will also go towards rebuilding and restoring safe and clean homes for those impacted by the Heartland
Tornadoes. Visit adrn.org to give online.
